In person camps return to Roeper in summer 2021!

The Roeper School founders, George and Annemarie Roeper, introduced summer camps to provide a rewarding and accessible experience for children throughout metro Detroit. Since its establishment in 1947, our summer programs have provided enriching programs that children love and parents trust. We offer a multi-faceted camp experience that focuses on fun, personal growth, and embraces diversity. The Roeper Summer Experience, a part of The Roeper School, is a licensed Child Care Center by the State of Michigan. Campers need to be between the ages of 3 and 13 as of June 28, 2021 to participate in camp.

For campers who need supervision while you are at work, Roeper Summer Experience offers Before and After Care. For detailed information, click on the Extended Day tab.

Swim At Roeper Camp

Water Safety
Roeper Summer Camp has two in-ground fenced pools with water slides. Certified Red Cross lifeguards are on duty at all times. Water safety is stressed for all ages.

The 1,200 sqft leisure pool with depths between 6” and 2½’ is dedicated for use by Exploration campers who are not quite ready for deeper water. These campers play in the water daily with their counselors.

The main 25-yard pool has depths between 3½' and 8’. All campers MUST take and pass a test in order to be able to swim in the deep end. Colored wristbands worn by swimmers identify areas of the pool in which they are allowed to swim.

To promote physical distancing, Activity, Farewell Year, Science and Tech Camp cohort groups will swim in designated areas of the pool each day.  The areas will be separated by lane ropes. Each Exploration camper group will have their own designated time in our leisure pool.

Themed Weeks

Dressing up like a superhero is only part of the fun experienced at Roeper Summer Experience. Each week follows a theme ranging from “Roeper’s Got Talent” when we host a performance showcasing campers’ talents, to “Wet n’ Wild” when we compete in cardboard boat races across our pool.  No two weeks are alike and no two summers are alike as we change up our special activities year to year.
